OCTOPUSSY on TOUR by Ayla Pierrot Arendt

OCTOPUSSY has already traveled many countries with her adaptive live performance that is site-specific and original, weaving spoken word, melody and haptic imagery with agitating beats to an intriguing soundscape. The tactile ability to learn from and to touch each other, gives OCTOPUSSY the opportunity to address and negotiate globally relevant issues in connection with water, pollution and recycling. As a nomadic lone traveler, OCTOPUSSY intervenes in local hangouts. She narrates what holds the community together, promoting hope and not despair, in a constant search for structures for collaboration and solidarity. Homemade videos tell of her encounters and experiences while on tour.

AYLA PIERROT ARENDT
The German visual artist and director AYLA PIERROT ARENDT (*1987, Munich) designs with OCTOPUSSY on TOUR soundscapes composed of language fragments, electronic music sequences and digital images. In her performance, Arendt refers to the community in order to bring together experiences of different life realities. The music and sound design were created in collaboration with the Berlin musician Fullruhm.
